Last updated October 2026 · free public beta
Thought → Speak is a free beta. Features may change, and if we ever have to reset the database we'll say so on the site first and give you time to export your history.
What we store
- Your email address, and your name if you give one.
- Your password — only as a salted scrypt hash. We never store or see the password itself.
- What you practise: your transcripts, the recordings you choose to save, your scores and coaching, and your lesson and streak progress.
- One sign-in cookie, so you stay signed in. No advertising cookies, no trackers, no analytics.
Where your words go
- Live transcript. The words that appear while you speak come from your browser's speech recognition. In Chrome and Edge that audio is processed by Google's or Microsoft's speech service, under their privacy policies. If you'd rather not use it, type or paste your answer instead.
- Coaching. In this beta, your answers are scored and coached by the built-in coach on our own server. No AI service receives your transcripts or recordings. If that ever changes, we'll update this page before it does.
Who can see it
Only you, when you're signed in. Every take, transcript and recording belongs to your account and isn't shown to other users. The site's owner can technically reach the server to keep it running and to make backups, and doesn't look at people's practice. We don't sell or share your data.
Keeping and deleting
- Delete a single take from History — its transcript, recording and scores go with it.
- Download everything as a file with History → Export.
- Delete your account under History → Delete account. That removes your account and everything in it. Nightly backups are kept for 7 days, so a deleted account is gone from backups within a week.
Age
Thought → Speak is for people aged 13 and over.
